Caveat Emptor when renting an electric vehicle. I rented a car from Dollar via PriceLine and opted for the "mystery car" for a bigger discount. The car turned out to be a Chevy Bolt, which was an amazing car. I was told by the rental attendant to return the car with 75 miles on the battery. I returned it with 113 miles, but Dollar keeps charging me $35 in recharging fees. Not only did I comply with the only instruction I was given about the car, but I couldn't recharge it while I had it. Recharging kiosks require an account that includes the car's VIN. Only the vehicle's owner can set up an account. The renter is not the car's owner. Dollar will have to work this out if they continue to lease EVs.

I rented a car from Dollar from August 17th to the 28th. Got a great deal so I thought. After 4 days, noticed a leak under the car (thinking it was water from AC), I went out and touched it, it was thick fluid, after spending the better half of the day trying to reach someone LIVE and who spoke clear english, I was able to receive another car, but not near where I was. I had to pick it up at the Tampa airport, since i had no way of getting there, they sent me in a Lyft. Long story short. A full vacation day was wasted, turned out to be transmission fluid that was leaking. I had to drive another hour back to where I was staying, the day was over by the time I got back. Dollar offered no compensation for a day without a car, they over charged the price that was quoted to me and I STILL haven’t received my 200.00 deposit back yet. What a scam!! Try finding someone who speaks english to help. All you get us 7 to 10 business days, you'll hear from someone, i have a feel this is just smoke and mirrors. Don't rent from them is my advise.
