My amazing health care plan is covered by my employer. I have had HealthNet PPO for 11 years through our office. Which is good, because I am like a walking hospital bill - I've sprained an ankle, and broken toes, a foot, and a femur in the last five years. Yikes! HealthNet (and John Muir) have been with me every step of the way - even when those steps are using crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs.
My femur surgery and subsequent hospital stay still cost me a ton of out of pocket until I hit my deductible (literally thousands of dollars), but that's how insurance works. The rest was covered, even home care and physical therapy. Unfortunately, my PT ran out of visits before I was healed and I still limp from time to time and experience pain semi-frequently. But I kind of blame that on the Physical Therapists for not pushing me harder at the beginning. My broken foot never even received PT, which I blame on the orthopedic specialist I've seen a couple times this year.
Not all my medical bills and insurance coverage though are injury-related. I see doctors for preventative measures. I'm a picture of health right now so it's nice to have a team keeping me on track, and an insurance company that covers those visits. And on a much bigger scale, FAMILY PLANNING - my lady doctors and I love to talk about the exciting possibility of children in my future... which also makes me happy to know that I have great health coverage because that's not a road I would venture down without it!
HealthNet recently sent me a survey on my experiences with their company and my doctors. Vanessa G. followed up on my responses and called me - we spoke, and then a few days later she sent a hand-written thank you card to my home. Girl! Thank YOU! I love someone who takes the time to show that something matters to them, and obviously your clients, and your job, matter to you!
