I built a new home and plan to move in March 8th, as I work from home I need internet service so I called two weeks ago to schedule.
The local office sent someone to inspect and then I was told I couldn't get service, according to the person who went to inspect my house said it's 300 to 400 ft from nearest house with service. My house is 250 feet from the house beside me but this is beside the point.
I called the local office and was told it will take 5 to 8 weeks to get an estimate to add service and that I may have to pay. I called every few days for an update and in hopes something could be done to provide a temporary line until someone determines how to provide a permanent solution. If I had phone poles up to the house getting service wouldn't be a problem but all my utilities are underground. After getting no answers I requested to speak to a manager, who refused to get on the phone with me ( Beckley WV ). The rep I was speaking with attempted to dump me on another dept which didn't work out for her.
I was then provided at number to the new install team 833-656-0152, I have left numerous voice mails with all my information and contact details asking for a call back, not one call and I've left at least 4 voicemails. I've even begged for a temp solution, something to help but it's clear no one at Optimum cares enough to return a call.
I've had many homes and it's never been a problem to lay a line on the ground until a team can come bury. I've even offered to install a post 1/2 way to the house if a booster or something is needed until they can determine a permanent solution, still no call back
With limited options in this area I guess Optimum doesn't have to care but as a new customer, new to area I'd appreciate any help in getting me service.

Thieves stole my money. They terminated my service and closed my account but can't give me a reason as to why. They drafted another monthly payment from my checking the same day they closed my account. They won't tell me why they did this or when they plan to refund my money. I'm having to file a lawsuit because of it. Horrible company ran by horrible people (if that's what you call them). Evil has a company name, it's Optimum.

On 01-25-2024 my complete optimum service both internet and TV were dropping. This continued until 1/31/2024 when I finally decided I was not going to pay for services I was not getting so I cancelled the service effective immediately. Again, this was after several attempts to have your techs come out check lines and being told “we cannot figure out why my service is not working”. You can review my account since I am sure between the chats and calls, I have a book you can review. Also note there was an outage reported in our area 2/1 which most likely pertains to the issues.
The reason I am contacting you is that I am not going to pay for my billing period 1/23 – 2/22 since I only had service for 2 days out of this period and had to cancel on 1/31 since you could not provide the service I was paying for. The amount being paid in this period should be $17.50 ( 8.75 for 2 days of service ). Please send a revised bill.

If I could give no stars I would !!! Horrible customer service polices. They need to get rid of their script and treat each customer issue on its own.
As a 73 year old man who have live in different states in the USA I can say without reservations Opitmum in NC is absolutely the worst company I have ever done business with. There is nothing good I can say about them. If you have a choice. Choose anyone except Optimum
I signed up for Optimum internet and sales talked me into Optimum Mobile. After reading Optimum disclosure I noticed if during power outage, the internet would be down and so will their cell phone service. I have Verizon and when power is out or internet down, I still have cell service. I never activated Optimum cell service but was charged $37.19 activation fee anyway. I cancelled Optimum mobile Jan. 3, 2024 via their Retention Dept. I received their phone Jan 4, attached their return label on unopened box and took it to Fed EX. I told them it shipped and was told cannot cancel service until the cell phone is received back but will freeze the account. I rechecked on Jan 9 said they did not receive phone and I decided to check track # and it was delivered Jan 8. On Jan 11, I was told cannot cancel because they have to check the return unit see if in good order and I told them I never opened the box and they said wait another 5 days to complete inspection. I was told no further payment required but was required to set up auto pay. On Jan 14 I received email they were going to charge me $52.66 on Jan. 15 for cell phone service. To stop them from deducting more money from my account for no phone, no activation, they did not keep my existing number as I had requested but gave me a new number, I had to cancel my card to void the auto pay. The Optimum mobile is a separate department from Optimum internet.
The worst service in the world..they should value customers experience but they don't care.
I've never encountered worse customer service than with Optimum Cable. Quick scenario: My sister-in-law passed away. She paid all the bills and my brother has no idea (and no monthly statement) of the account number or 4 digit access code. I've been 5 months and multiple Representatives trying to resolve this and always hit a brick wall. The last Representative hissed a solution to me that it would require him to close his account (currently in his name) ...they come and take his equipment...he reopens another account under his name and they bring equipment back, set it up and charge him a fee to open another account. All this...when my simple solution was to stop holding his monthly statements...mail them to him for the information he needs. Ridiculous!! What a run around. Too bad they have a monopoly on the services in that area (as most cable companies do) and you have no recourse.
