I have service with Consumer Cellular. When trying to change phones (to a Consumer Cellular phone) I have had my service shut down, apparently. It is rather awkward for a senior citizen to gt treated this way. No one there seems to understand or know how to get the service back on. Or worse, they are not trying as all I get is the runaround when I try to pinpoint what is wrong. So far I have talked with about a dozen different employees including Supervisors. One actually did help but trying to get in touch with that employees again is not possible. How they made J.D. Powers Review list as a favorable company is kind of like the 2020 elections, lots of fraud, I think.

The only reason I gave it a 2 is because they take my money on autopay right on time. LOL I have been trying to get a replacement phone for quite sometime. A friend and I did everything that Consumer Cellular rep asked on 2/17/23. It took 3 hours. I have very poor reception and the phone heats up. The supervisor I spoke with today said I have to go through troubleshooting again because there are no notes on file. The phone is still until warranty until April. I think your company is stalling until the warranty runs out. I am afraid the phone will start on fire. Please replace this phone before it explodes.

Received flyer in mail from Consumer Cellular about their data plans. I wanted to try JUST having data service without internet. After 2 mos of service - old phone stopped receiving updates so purchased a new phone from Consumer Cellular. NO ONE at that time told me I would be going into a 6 mos contract. Near the end of 3 mos of service, I realized data service alone would not work for me. I called Consumer Cellular and was told I could return the phone and cancel service which I did. Not knowing about the STRICT return guidelines, I immediately contacted my prior service to go back to them at which time I found out the EXACT same phone was $350 cheaper.
I contacted Consumer Cellular to see if they had received the returned phone and was informed the return was rejected due to scratches on the phone. The rejection email stated one has to turn the phone many different ways and in the right light to be able to see the scratches. Their return policy SHOULD SAY “ONLY out of the box new “.
At THIS time I was also informed of the 6 month contract I was in and the phone would be returned to me to continue the contract.
Here’s the icing on the cake. They removed me from “easy pay” - being able to pay the for the phone in installments and put the balance of the phone as due on my account. I’m in the process of working on getting that reinstated.
I have since learned there are over 1500 complaints filed on the Better Business Bureau.
MOST corporations under certain circumstances work with a person for satisfaction. Consumer Cellular has not done anything on my behalf.
Hope this helps someone

BUYER BEWARE!! I purchased a Samsung Galaxy a21 with insurance from Consumer Cellular. Two yests layer, i filed a claim. I am sent a samsung galaxy a12. I wa told the insurance was Alstate. Then it is Squaretrade. Squartrade told me, they would replace my phone with the same pfine. However, come to find out Squaretrade is just the paper procesdor. The replacements come from Consumer Celluler. They requested samsung to downgrade the phones specs for their customers. They sent me a crappy phone downgraded from my original phone, told me "thats the phone you got and we're not sending you another one"! The phone never worked correctly. Their terms are clear, if you file another claim within 12 months of your last claim, they will honor it then cancel your service. After months of attempts for help, i changed cellphone companies. They owe me money, slammed my credit card, ruined my credit and i am about to gile a small claims action.

I have been a customer with this company in good standing for close to 5 years. Yesterday, I tried to order a phone, and have it sent to my physical address, not my billing address, and they told me there would be a 72-hour delay, while they tried to investigate any fraud issues with my address. How dare they! My Wi-Fi 911 address is the same address I asked them to send it to, I have lived here for over 10 years, and I do not appreciate the inference that I might be someone trying to commit a scam! They also told me if I wanted a phone that badly, I could just go to Target and buy one outright. I should not have to do that, when I can order one on my plan on their website, supposedly. I was told I would have received a call back within 24 hours as to what was going on, now they're telling me it would be 72 hours for them to make a decision. I keep getting mixed stories from people as to why they have this problem, one said it was to verify me or my address, the other said it was because the purchase was over $100, and it was not being sent to my mailing address. What a bunch of baloney! So far in the last 3 days, they have had an operator argue with me as to what kind of phone I was using, then another operator adjusted my rate plan at my request, but also disconnected and then re-entered my phone number in their system, so I lost all my voicemail messages, which I needed, for doctors appointments etc, and a hospital that was calling me for emergency needs for a relative, could not reach me, because I didn't recognize their number so I didn't answer, and they were being told that I had a voicemail box that was not set up yet. They finally sent the police to alert me that they needed me to contact them right away. My relative could have died! These people have not been apologetic, they have offered any sort of accommodation for everything they've put me through, and today my stomach is physically upset and in pain, because of The Angst I am feeling after talking with their representatives. I have been a walking billboard for this company thinking it was a great deal, until today. I will change this review and update it, if indeed they improve what's happening. However, I'm not going to hold my breath! Buyer beware! There are other low-cost phone companies, and I myself am considering transferring to one! Good luck!

I bought a phone out right, I owe nothing, but my phone number that I have had since 2006, is on lockdown until the 28 of this month, oh no the 29 according to your incentive employee, all because of a 180 day , after buying the phone contact! I am a single parent of a severe profound Down syndrome child, I need a phone! He informed me that he can’t take the lock off of my phone number, the only one I ever had, until the 29 of this month! I suffer from anxiety, and I got very worked up. I have to go to Target tomorrow, with my child that is not easy to take out at times, get a new phone number, temporarily, until I can get my number unlocked!!! People have been through enough, and some of us still struggling! Why can’t you make exceptions for people who are desperate and really need someone to care?

Today after 20 years of service with this company I review them a Zero, because they think they have the right to put a code on my phone for my voicemail, it is MY PHONE NOT THEIRS, who give them the right, all I got was changing TIME, you don't think I know that I have a pass-code on my phone to get on it why do I need a pass-code for my voicemail, I don't and what give THEM THE RIGHT TO DO THIS, plus you try to get help and all you get is more frustrated because they want to make their point, well guess what just FIX MY PHONE BUT SEEM THEY CANTS DO THAT BECAUSE the YOUNG ONES WANT TO TELL ME AN ELDER THAT TIME HAS CHANGED I THINK I KNOW THAT MORE THAN A TWENTY YEAR OLD. This Cell Phone Company sucks and it sucks big time! Do they have anyone in their customer service department that speaks fluent English?! By the way their customer service sucks and it sucks big time! I have made numerous attempts to access the features on my OWN phone, and they were shocking unable and unprepared to help me in doing so! Folks, If you all want cheap, byzantine devices with horrible customer service, then Consumer Cellular is the provider for you!

If you want state of the art equipment and technology, plus knowledgeable customer service agents, then do your self a favor and go ANYWHERE but Consumer Cellular!
